Project Updates
The final total is in for the adopt a snow leopard event. Northpoint raised $1119.88 for Tami, the snow leopard.
In November, we delivered 2 trucks and 3 SUV's full of food for families in PHM.
In December, we sponsored 20 families from another school in PHM. We provided toys and clothes for Christmas.
New projects
Our focus in January is raising money for Riley's Childrens' Hospital. We will be having a Crazy Head Day on January 16th. Students may where a crazy hat or have crazy hair. Students must pay at least $1.00 to participate. Hair color must be able to wash out right away. (No make up) The class that raises the most money will have a camp under!
Riley's also collects pop tabs. For several years, Northpoint has donated more than any other school. We will also be collecting pop tabs during the month of January.
Our SIS members are helping this month by:
*Bring in a decorated container for pop tabs by Monday. For example: pringle cans, milk jugs, and cereal boxes.
*Make a poster. Turn it in by Monday. Include all information about January. If you are on the January committee use a bigger piece of paper. Everyone else use a plain piece of copy paper.
*Make a report to your partner class tomorrow or Monday and then again the first week of January.

Tami, The Snow Leopard!
All members were present today!

We had a great visit with Mr. DeRosa, the Potawatomi Zoo Director, today. He was able to share all sorts of interesting information on Tami, the snow leopard, that Northpoint is trying to adopt! He was very impressed with the students' goals and their plan to raise at least $1,000 to help out the local zoo!
Our committee of Alexis, Molly, Laura, Kylie and Kelsey are very excited about their project they have planned. They have planned STUFFED ANIMAL DAY for Friday, October 17th. All Northpoint students are invited to bring a stuffed animal to school with them on Friday, as well as a donation to go towards our adoption of Tami. Students are encouraged to bring in at least $1.00.
In addition to the Stuffed Animal Day, our Stars In Service is also having a Webkinz Raffle that will be taking place at Fall Festival. Donated Webkinz will be in a raffle the night of the festival. All money raised will be going to the zoo fund-raiser and our adoption of Tami. We are looking for Stars in Service members to work the raffle table that night. Please see the paper that came home with representatives today. The shifts are either 6:30-7:30 or 7:30-8:30.
WSTAR Announcers for this event will be: Alexis (Monday), Molly (Tuesday), Laura (Wednesday), Kylie (Thursday), & Kelsey (Friday)
Poster Makers will be: Kelsey, Alexis, Kylie, Laura, Molly, Mary, Sophia, Adwait, Lena, Aiden, Jillian, Madi, Addison, Taylor, Gabby, Gabrielle, Hope, Renee and anyone else that would like to make one!
A special thank you to the following for donating Webkinz for our raffles:
Gabrielle, Alexis, Molly, Laura, Kylie, Kelsey, Gabby, Mrs. DeLaurelle, Mrs. Colborn, Ms. Kuroski, & Grace
Looking Ahead: We are collecting money for the Northern Indiana Food Bank. We will also be collecting food for Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets for families in need from our community.

Welcome!
Welcome to Northpoint's Stars In Service Blog!
Congratulations to our Stars In Service members: Taylor, Abby, Hannah, Aidan, Kylie, Kelsey, Madi, Sophia, Addison, Lena, Spencer, Gabrielle, Jillian, Mary, Molly, Adwaite, Hope, Alexis, Maggie, Laura, Gabby and Renee!
Mrs. DeLaurelle and Mrs. Woods had the amazing opportunity to meet with the entire crew last week for 1/2 a day to start planning our year! Each member worked very hard to make this morning successful and we were very proud of each of them!
We have set up individual committees out of our group of students. Each child has been placed on 1 committee so far and started to work on ideas within that small group. We had an amazing brainstorming session with the kids about special days and events they would like to do. It was also great to hear about the different charities that the students have an interest in helping this year. Each committee has a month that they were in charge of planning for. They had to choose the charity they were going to try to raise money for, a goal of how much they wanted to raise and what they were going to do to bring in donations! It was inspiring to walk around and listen to them take ownership of these ideas! We can't wait for the year to unfold and see the plans in action!
Our first event that Stars In Service is sponsoring is this Friday. We will be collecting donations to be given toward the Buddy Walk to support Down Syndrome. Students at Northpoint will be asked to bring in a dollar or more to donate for this very worthy cause. When students bring in a dollar, they will be able to staple it to a wall (our goal is to cover the entire thing!) and they also get to bring a piece of gum to chew! There were no posters due for this special day because of the short notice! To find out more information, check out http://www.buddywalk.org
Please check back frequently for updates on our Stars In Service sponsored events!
