Meeting-9/18/08

We had a very quick, yet successful meeting this afternoon. All members were present.

Buddy Walk-
Students will come in tomorrow morning and show one of Stars in Service Sponsors their dollar, staple it to the wall and then get their sticker. Stickers are their tickets to chew gum!

Stars In Service T-shirts-
Shirts are available to Stars in Service members. All orders need to be returned to Miss Brown, Ms. Grannan, Mrs. DeLaurelle, or Mrs. Woods by Tuesday. Shirts are $5.25 and checks should be made out to Northpoint Elementary School.

October Event-Adopt a Snow Leopard at the zoo.
Committee Members: Alexis, Molly, Laura, Kylie, Kelsie. Mrs. Woods is the advisor.
Stuffed animal day will be on October 17th. Students that bring a donation can bring in a stuffed animal to sit on their table.
There will be a raffle of Webkinz at the Fall Festival that will also be donated towards adopting the snow leopard. We are still in need of more Webkinz for the raffle.
Reports will be made to classrooms after the 10/9 meeting.

Looking Ahead:

November Event: Collecting money for the Northern Indiana Food Bank and Thanksgiving Dinner food items for needy families in our community.

Welcome!

Welcome to Northpoint's Stars In Service Blog!

Congratulations to our Stars In Service members: Taylor, Abby, Hannah, Aidan, Kylie, Kelsey, Madi, Sophia, Addison, Lena, Spencer, Gabrielle, Jillian, Mary, Molly, Adwaite, Hope, Alexis, Maggie, Laura, Gabby and Renee!

Mrs. DeLaurelle and Mrs. Woods had the amazing opportunity to meet with the entire crew last week for 1/2 a day to start planning our year! Each member worked very hard to make this morning successful and we were very proud of each of them!

We have set up individual committees out of our group of students. Each child has been placed on 1 committee so far and started to work on ideas within that small group. We had an amazing brainstorming session with the kids about special days and events they would like to do. It was also great to hear about the different charities that the students have an interest in helping this year. Each committee has a month that they were in charge of planning for. They had to choose the charity they were going to try to raise money for, a goal of how much they wanted to raise and what they were going to do to bring in donations! It was inspiring to walk around and listen to them take ownership of these ideas! We can't wait for the year to unfold and see the plans in action!

Our first event that Stars In Service is sponsoring is this Friday. We will be collecting donations to be given toward the Buddy Walk to support Down Syndrome. Students at Northpoint will be asked to bring in a dollar or more to donate for this very worthy cause. When students bring in a dollar, they will be able to staple it to a wall (our goal is to cover the entire thing!) and they also get to bring a piece of gum to chew!
