April Meeting

Members Present: Gabby, Maggie, Laura, Molly, Adwait, Hope, Alexis, Spencer, Gabrielle, Madi, Sophia, Addison, Lena, Hannah, Adain, Aliya, Kelsey, Taylor, Abby, Jillian, and Mary.

Old Business:

• Our Earth Foundation Fund-raiser was a huge success! We were able to save many acres in the Madagascar rain forest.

• Many, many thanks to all the families that helped out the Penn Food Pantry with the donations of canned goods, clothes and toiletries.

New Business: Mission of the Month-Silver Mile

We will be having a quarter war next week, April 20th-April 24th. Each grade level gets its own bucket and will be in a contest to bring in as many quarters as possible. Quarters will add up, however, dollar bills of any denomination will subtract from the total. Other grade levels can subtract from another grade's total by putting in dollar bills. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible.

Looking Ahead: It's party time! Our Stars in Service lunch will be on Wednesday, May 13th! There is an information sheet that goes home today. These are due back to one of the Stars in Service Sponsors by May 1st.

March Meeting

Past Business:

• Pennies for Peace-Way to go, Northpoint Stars! We raised $769.85 in pennies! Wow! What a great feeling to know we are reaching people around the world
• One for Books-$326.00 was raised for the One For Books through Scholastic! Way to make a difference, stars!
  

New Business:

• Earth Foundation-We will be selling T-shirts to help save the rain forest in Madagascar! We will have a special display tonight at Galaxy Gallery and will start our T-shirt sales next week! We have set a goal of helping to save 50 acres, which is 500 items sold. Each child will be getting an order form to sell. If you run out of room on order forms, more will be available in the office. All orders are due by Friday, April 27th. There is a DVD available for further information.
  

February Meeting

Old News:

• Wahoo, Northpoint Stars! Our student body collected $533.75 to be donated to Riley's Children's Hospital! The pop tab collection went wonderfully as well! All pop tabs can now be placed in the jug by the cafeteria steps or delivered to Mrs. DeLaurelle.
• Pennies for Peace--We're still collecting pennies to be donated to the Pennies for Peace project!
• Thank you to the students who helped out at the Read-In

New Business

• Our project in March is One for books. Thank you Spenser, Addison Renee, Jillian and Gabby for helping us out! We will be raising money to help Scholastic donate books to children in need.
  
• Our special day will be a pajama/slipper day and contest. Teachers who are willing to participate will dress up in their most outrageous but still appropriate outfit for pajama day. Students will vote with their dollars.
  
• Earth Foundation - In April, we will be selling t-shirts. The proceeds will go to save the rain forest in Madagascar.

January Meeting

Old Business:
Our December committee shared information on the collection of toys, clothes and goods for Meadow's Edge Families. The families were very appreciative of our extremely giving families here at Northpoint! Special thanks to Spencer, Addison, Renee, Jillian and Gabby for their work on this committee!

Don't forget, we are still collecting pop tabs until the end of the month! Crazy head/hat day has been moved to tomorrow!

New Business:
Our mission of the month for February is Pennies for Peace! Hannah, Maddies, Mary, Sophia, Taylor and Gabrielle are going to be working with Mrs. DeLaurelle to plan events for this month to collect as many as pennies as possible to build schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

All students need to make posters advertising Pennies for Peace!

December Meeting

Project Updates
The final total is in for the adopt a snow leopard event. Northpoint raised $1119.88 for Tami, the snow leopard.
In November, we delivered 2 trucks and 3 SUV's full of food for families in PHM.
In December, we sponsored 20 families from another school in PHM. We provided toys and clothes for Christmas.

New projects
Our focus in January is raising money for Riley's Childrens' Hospital. We will be having a Crazy Head Day on January 16th. Students may where a crazy hat or have crazy hair. Students must pay at least $1.00 to participate. Hair color must be able to wash out right away. (No make up) The class that raises the most money will have a camp under!

Riley's also collects pop tabs. For several years, Northpoint has donated more than any other school. We will also be collecting pop tabs during the month of January.

Our SIS members are helping this month by:
*Bring in a decorated container for pop tabs by Monday. For example: pringle cans, milk jugs, and cereal boxes.
*Make a poster. Turn it in by Monday. Include all information about January. If you are on the January committee use a bigger piece of paper. Everyone else use a plain piece of copy paper.
*Make a report to your partner class tomorrow or Monday and then again the first week of January.

A Visit With Tami!

We did it, we did it, we reached our goal!

The Stars in Service members have collected more than $1,000 from the generous Northpoint Community in order to adopt Tami, the snow leopard!

We will be visiting Potawatomi Zoo next Thursday at 3:00 for our special visit with Tami! All Stars in Service members are invited to attend. It will be up to individual families to provide transportation to and from the zoo on that day! We should plan to be there around 1 hour!

What an opportunity! Way to go Northpoint!
